We as a smartous, at EESL with support of keonics, are helping utilities reduce these billing inefficiencies by deploying smart meters through the Smart Meter National Program (SMNP). The SMNP aims to replace India’s 250 million conventional meters with smart meters. Our smart meters procurement will commence in November 2017 for the states of Haryana and Uttar Pradesh, states with AT&C losses as large as 28.42% and 34.36% respectively2.
Our established strategy of bulk procurement, demand aggregation, and leveraging savings will serve as the foundation for implementing smart meters. This deployment is suggested to operate under the Build-Own-Operate-Transfer (BOOT) model, wherein EESL will manage all capital and operational expenses, requiring no initial investment from states and utilities.
